Distinguishing Marks of our Ministry
Our approach to stewardship ministry equipping in the local church carries these distinguishing marks:
1. Generosity - We believe generosity is the ultimate identifier of a mature steward - but generosity doesn't just "happen". It is a learned behavior that takes time and intention; therefore, our ministry equips the local church in intentional, long-term ministry methods. Consistient with this principle, we remain available to assist in the process for as long as needed.
2. The Local Church - We believe the local church is a powerful, God-ordained world change-agent; therefore, our ministry is directed to the local church and conducted under the oversight of local church leadership.
3. Kingdom Vision - We believe in the power of envisioning "what could be;" therefore, our ministry model encourages leaders to expect God to reveal a "God-sized" vision and to trust Him to move in believers' hearts to resource that vision through their generous offerings of time, talent, and teasure.
2. Leadership - We believe local church leaders are crucial to achieving the vision God has given their churches; therefore, we focus our ministry on a small group of carefully selected leaders whose respect and influence can be leveraged effectively throughout the local church.
3. Stewardship - We believe a proper definition of biblical stewardship is a holistic one, such as: "Using God-entrusted resources of time, talent, and treasure to fully pursue God's touch (people) purposes for our lives"; therefore, especially in an affluent society, it is particularly relevant and powerful to acknowledge that faithful stewardship, first and foremost, demands a transformation of the heart.
4. Holy Spirit - We acknowledge that only God, through the workings of His Spirit, can change hearts; therefore, rather than being prescriptive or formulaic, our ministry model instead creates opportunities for God's Spirit to speak to the hearts of local church leaders. This subsequently directs them to the specific stewardship ministry applications that are appropriate for their respective settings.
5. Abundance - We believe like Hudson Taylor, 19th century missionary to China and founder of China Inland Mission, that "God's work, done in God's way, will never lack God's supply;"1 therefore, we stress God's principles of "abundance" and "circulation" that challenge the "scarcity" and "accumulation" perspectives of many in the Church today.
6. Vision - We believe in the power of envisioning "what could be;" therefore, our ministry model encourages leaders to think big and to plan boldly, trusting God to move in believer's hearts to resource the God-given vision for the local church with their generous offerings of time, talent, and treasure.
7. Purpose - We believe God created each person for specific people-centered purposes, and it is the pursuit of those purposes that brings meaning and fulfillment to life; therefore, our ministry seeks to establish the importance of understanding and pursuing individual and collective purpose in God's Kingdom.
8. Long-term - We believe generosity is the ultimate identifier of a mature steward - but generosity doesn't just "happen." It is a learned behavior that takes time and intentional effort; therefore, our ministry equips the local church in intentional, long-term approaches to generosity culture-building. Consistent with this belief, we remain available to assist in this process for as long as needed.
9. Strategic - We recognize that most of what is available to assist the local church in stewardship equipping is short-term and tactical; therefore, our ministry provides a long-term, visionary, strategic thinking model to help the local church teach and equip its members in biblical stewardship principles and practices.
10. Relationships - We believe in the power of personal relationships; therefore, we use personal consultation and one-to-one personal coaching to enhance the learning and life application experiences flowing from our ministry.

What is Christian coaching?
Christian coaching is a 3-way partnership between God, a Christian coach and a person who is seeking to get from where he is to where he would like to be. It is a proven process that routinely produces forward progress. A Christian coach is:
- A thinking partner
- A truth teller
- A support
- An authentic accountability partner
- A change expert
What qualifies a person as a Christian coach?
- Coach training from a respected Christian Coaching school
- Ongoing coach education and supervision
- Certified (or in process of becoming certified) by International Coaching Federation (ICF) (requires hundreds of hours of coaching experience, education and an examination)
- Mentored by a coach with higher credentials
- Certified as a Coach Trainer preferably (there is no better way to learn than to teach)
- Lots of life experience (Christian service, family experience, career experience, dealing with life challenges, living out purpose and calling, coaching experiences)
Who are the Matthew 28 Global Ministries coaches?
Our Coaches are supplied by Courageous Growth Coaching, a Christian coaching service that includes Dr. Russ Rainey, Brandy Prince and Johnny Crenshaw. All three are Certified Coaches and Coach Trainers through Transformational Leadership Coaching. Each has a long history of leading personal and group ministries in the local, evangelical church. They are life-long students of leadership and personal development who view coaching as a discipleship, stewardship and relationship enabling process for believers who want to take their lives to the “next level.”
How are Christian coaches used in conjunction with stewardship ministry?
Matthew 28 Global Ministries provides powerful stewardship education and it can help your church, ministry or business design life-changing programs. However, without coaching there could be a gap between what is learned and what gets accomplished. Successful businesses utilize coaching extensively because even the best and brightest may need help moving from a compelling vision of God-sized goals for their lives to specific action steps to accomplish that vision. Coaching closes the gap between knowing and doing, increasing the chances of the vision becoming reality.
